The holiday island of Mykonos is known as one of the most cosmopolitan of the Greek islands. Mykonos has hotels and accommodation to suit every traveller’s budget, from large lively hotels to smaller, more intimate apartments there is something for everyone. Most of the accommodation has grown up around the hillside behind Mykonos town and the residential area now cover s large expanse north to Agios Stefanos and south to Plaits Yialos.
The capital Hora is a stunningly pretty town comprising of a labyrinth of tiny streets, full of brilliantly whitewashed box shaped houses adorned with brightly coloured shutters and balconies. These are interspersed with small but impressive churches, traditional tavernas, souvenir shops and boutiques. All this surrounds a colourful harbour where local fishing boats float comfortably alongside luxury yachts. As traffic is prevented from entering the centre of Hora, the charm and beauty of this magical town can be fully appreciated.
Mykonos is a lively island with plenty to do and see. Visitors can dance all night and sleep all day or relax in superb hotels set in idyllic surroundings overlooking magnificent beaches. With all this to offer it is hardly surprising that Mykonos is one of the most popular of the Greek islands.
Please note that due to the hilly nature of the island, Mykonos is not an ideal location for those with walking difficulties, the elderly or the infirm.
